The two possum species the average person is most likely to come into contact with are the Brushtail Possum and Ringtail Possum. They have managed to survive reasonably well in suburbia and can be a common sight in some back yards. Both types of Possum are mainly vegetarians but do like to eat insects and larvae and sometimes nestling birds. They love flower blossoms (a major part of their diet) but can upset gardeners by eating their prized roses, magnolias etc.

Possums nightly romps (and fights) in ceilings and roof tops are another cause of animosity from people.

Possums (all Possums are strictly protected and even live captured animals can only be moved a short distance for release which is unlikely to be effective (and possible cruel) as they return immediately - they are territorial

Bird Gard's CEX Possum deterrent is designed specifically for Possum removal from houses, aviaries, food stores, warehouses and gardens. This device is a permanent solution to a possum problem. It will not kill possums, they will simply be forced to leave the immediate area and never return. It repels Possums without harming them. It emits a range of sound frequencies from sonic (which people can hear) right up to ultrasonic (which Possums hear but humans cant).

The device has a series of settings for possum removal. A C-Medium or C-Loud setting will emit two types of frequencies (transonic). The unit, when set on ultrasonic, placed in the ceiling will have no influence outside the confines of the ceiling as ultrasonics will not pass through solid objects such as walls etc.
