There would hardly be a vineyard in Australia or New Zealand which doesn't suffer losses to birds. The traditional shotgun is not up to the job. Netting is extremely expensive to buy, install, store and maintain. Even if you don't want to admit that nets are not 100% effective, small birds like Silvereyes or Wax-eyes will fly through them and flocks of Starlings will weigh down nets to feed on the tops and sides as will Crows. Rosellas have even been known to make holes in nets. Virtually all commercially significant pest bird species can now be effectively controlled with our newest high tech frequencies and sounds at a fraction of the cost of netting. While we do not claim 100% effectiveness 100% of the time, many hundreds of vineyards have already had great success with Bird Gard bird scarers as they are a cost effective viticulture bird control tool.
